Transformation

Have you noticed? We live in the time of transformation.

2022 has been the year of transformation. This year, we witness an unjustifiable invasion abroad that will transform the global security framework for the next hundred years, partisan strife at home that threatens America itself, and a global war on truth and decency that dims the light of humanity.

We must decide what world we want to live in, and who we want to be. Then, we can, and we must, create our desired life and world.

Will we live in a free, safe, loving, truthful, just, and inclusive world? A world in which everyone is free to be themselves, to love who they want, to express how they feel, regardless of their race, color, religion, sex, political beliefs, social class, and any other means by which one life can be seemingly distinguished from another?

Or an oppressive, dangerous, cruel, hateful, unfair, and divided world? Where the default expression is a lie and the default feeling is anger? Where we’re animated more by hate than love?

Picture this. You wake up, turn on the news. It’s the year 2030. Do you want more news about the world working together to reduce poverty, disease, and inequality, or more about wars, ignorance, and violence?

Our world will be closer to one vision or the other, when we emerge from this age of transformation. What do you want to see in the world then?

You must decide. We must decide.

Do we want to be honest and loving? Or deceitful and hateful?

Do we want to be the light of our loved ones and the world? Or get back at someone or something because they had wronged us?

We must decide.

We must decide who we are, who we want to be, and what world we want to live in.

We must then make that world happen. We can literally create that world, by being the person we want to be. “Be the change you want to see.” – Gandhi.

I remain confident we will emerge from the transformation with gratitude.
